STARBASE is a Department of Defense funded youth program designed to enhance the understanding and appreciation of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The curriculum is taught by certified instructors who use hands-on activities and state of the art technology to educate mainly 5th grade students. The Washington Air National Guard was recently chosen to host a STARBASE program and named their chapter "Evergreen STARBASE."
In Pursuit of Excellence and Leadership Through Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
Classes are five days in duration and are conducted in partnership with local school districts. They integrate dynamic learning experiences with the exploration of STEM related careers. Emphasizing the value of education and goal-setting are also key components of the program.
Mathematics Operations and Applications
INVOLVE: Students in hands-on activities that strengthen their interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
ENCOURAGE: Students to take positive actions to set career goals.
HELP: Students understand the negative impact of dropping out of school.
PROVIDE: Teachers techniques and resources for (STEM) Education in their class.
